Any opportunity to put some food on the grill qualifies as a good day in my book. Without a doubt, I try to eat food fresh off the charcoal grill as often as I possibly can. But it’s important to balance our taste for delicious barbecue with our long term health interests. Shoot, it’s just not healthy to eat steak and hamburgers every day. So by adding a healthy option to the mix, we can still have our barbecue – and eat it too! The next time you get ready to fire up that grill, try these two easy grilled fish recipes. They are fun to make and simple to prepare.

First, we’re going to go over a simple grilled fish recipe (well, more of a method) using either salmon or swordfish. The choice is up to you. Or for a kick, try both! The second recipe involves a delicious way to make any grilled fish of your choice. These two recipes are great for having a solid method of cooking fish under your belt to start.

Fish, glorious fish!

Simple Salmon & Swordfish

Ingredients

Here’s what we’ll need:

1lb salmon fillet

1lb swordfish fillet

1 lemon (cut in half)

3tbsp butter (melted)

Chili pepper powder

Crushed Black Pepper

Preparation

This one’s easy breezy. All you need to do is cut the salmon and swordfish into two pieces and place each one on the grill. Then sprinkle the chili pepper over each one (you can do this beforehand). Next, squeeze the juice from half of the lemon over the fish. Now let them grill for 3 to 5 minutes before turning, although for meaty fish like these, you may want to give it closer to five minutes to sear on the first side. Next flip your fish. Now brush your swordfish with the melted butter and sprinkle some more chili pepper over it. After this, squeeze the other half of your lemon over the salmon and sprinkle some black pepper over both fish. From this point, just grill each until all of your fish is cooked through. And last but not least, enjoy!

Presto! Dinnertime.

Easy Way to Grill Fillets

Ingredients

Here’s what we’ll need:

1lb fish fillets (fresh or frozen)
2tbsp butter
¼ cup lemon juice
1 tbsp parsley, chopped
1 tbsp dill weed
1 tbsp salt
¼ tbsp pepper
1 paprika
1 medium onion, thinly sliced

Preparation

For this dish, we’re going to place our fish on 4 large size buttered squares of heavy duty aluminum foil. Put an equal amount of fish on each square. Now in a small saucepan, melt your two tablespoons of butter and add the lemon juice, parsley, dill weed, salt and pepper. Pour that marinade over all of your fish equally. Sprinkle a coating of paprika over it and top it off with your onion slices. Next, wrap your foil snugly around the fish, leave an opening for that fish to cook. Once you’ve got it on the grill, cook each side from 5 to 7 minutes. You can check it by opening the foil up with a fork (or your grill fork) to look for doneness. After you make sure it’s done, dig in! You have just cooked yourself up a fine fish meal.

Anytime you get a taste for some good fish, throw them fillets on the grill. Now that you’ve learned two easy grilled fish recipes, you can enjoy a healthy lifestyle…and still grill to your heart’s content. What’s better than that?
