For a lot of us, a steak on the grill is like having a guy show up at your door with an oversized check and a camera crew filming your reaction (okay, maybe not that good – but close). And for some of us, having mushrooms on your steak is like french fries and ketchup: they just go together. So to the people that can appreciate a good steak and mushroom meal, this post is for you.
I wanted to share another simple, easy-to-make dish that I know you’ll love. Why? Because [drum roll please] this recipe is made with steak and mushrooms. Surprise! Actually, there isn’t much to it, but it’s very delicious nonetheless. What we’re going to do is grill a steak, your choice of cut, and top it with mushrooms and your favorite marinade as a topping. Since you will be using your favorite marinade, there’s no doubt that you’ll love it.
This is actually a great meal for the middle of the week, or as a tasty dish to shake up the routine meals a little. And did I mention that it’s simple to make?
The Ingredients and the Method
Here’s what we’ll need:
Steak (one or several, if friends and family are eating)
Mushrooms (8oz. pack from grocery store)
Marinade (store bought, any brand)
Here’s what you do:
Prep your steak as normal and place it in the marinade. Let it marinade overnight. It can marinate longer, if you prefer. Once you’re ready to grill, place your dish with marinade to the side. You can either fix your sauce before or after the meat goes on the grill.
To prepare the sauce, begin by washing the mushrooms. Next pour the marinade into a medium sized pan. Add the mushrooms and mix together over low-to-medium heat. Stir occasionally until the sauce comes to a boil. Turn off from heat and let simmer for 5 minutes. With a spoon, take several spoonfuls of mushrooms and sauce and place it over the steak. Enjoy.
That’s it. This dish is quick, easy to understand, and easy to make. Steak and mushrooms as a meal will never go out of style. Now with your grill, you can feast on this hearty meal at your leisure.
